How to make a GIF from a video
- Upload a video up to 500 MB: MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV.
- Set the part you want with start and end times in seconds. Start at current frame takes the moment straight from the player.
- Choose the width: 320 for chats, 480 as a good default, 720 for large.
- Choose smoothness: 10 fps (clips up to 60 seconds) or 15 fps (up to 30 seconds).
- Click Make GIF, check the result and download it.
How to keep a GIF small
A GIF stores every frame almost as a separate picture, so size grows fast. For a lighter file, keep the clip to 3-6 seconds, use a width of 320 or 480 and 10 fps. For longer clips, keep it as video and compress it: an MP4 is many times smaller than a GIF at the same quality.
Where GIFs come in handy
- slides and documents where you can't embed video;
- emails, forums and READMEs;
- quick how-tos: a short loop showing where to click.

FAQ
How long can the GIF be?
Up to 60 seconds at 10 fps, up to 30 seconds at 15 fps.
How big can the video be?
Up to 500 MB.
Is there a watermark?
No.
Why is the GIF bigger than the video?
GIF is an old format without modern compression; each frame is stored almost on its own. Shorten the clip or lower the width or frame rate.
