How to compress an image to a specific size

  1. Drop up to 40 photos: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF or BMP, up to 50 MB each.
  2. Pick the target: 50, 100, 200, 300, 500 KB or 1 MB. For any other number, type it into Custom size in KB or MB.
  3. Pick the format: JPG is accepted everywhere, WebP looks a bit better at the same size.
  4. Click Compress and download the files one by one or as a ZIP.

How we hit the target

First we look for the highest JPG quality that fits under your size. If even low quality is too big, we carefully reduce the resolution. The final JPG is encoded with mozjpeg, which leaves fewer artifacts than the browser's built-in encoder.

We count strictly: 200 KB means no more than 200,000 bytes. Some sites count a kilobyte as 1,024 bytes, and then the file passes with room to spare.

FAQ

Will the file really be under the size I chose?

Yes. We check the final file in bytes and never return anything larger. 200 KB means at most 200,000 bytes.

Will the quality suffer?

We keep the highest quality that fits. If the photo is large and the target is tiny, the resolution goes down, but proportions and sharpness are kept.

Can I compress many photos at once?

Yes, up to 40 at a time, downloaded as one ZIP.

Does it open HEIC photos from an iPhone?

Most browsers can't open HEIC yet. On an iPhone you can switch to Settings, Camera, Formats, Most Compatible to save new photos as JPG.
