How to extract audio from a video
- Drop your videos: MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV. Up to 5 at a time, up to 2 GB each.
- Pick an audio format. Not sure? Keep MP3.
- For MP3, M4A and OGG, pick the quality.
- Click the button and download the audio files.
Which format to choose
| Task | Format |
|---|---|
| listening on a phone, in the car, in a player | MP3, 192 kbps |
| lectures, podcasts, voice | MP3 128 or OGG 64 kbps |
| iPhone, Apple Music, ringtones | M4A |
| sending as a voice message | OGG |
| editing, processing, transcription | WAV |
| archiving music losslessly | FLAC |
MP3 plays everywhere. M4A with AAC audio is slightly smaller than MP3 at the same quality and native to Apple devices. OGG with Opus audio is what voice messages in Telegram and WhatsApp use: tiny files for speech. WAV is lossless and uncompressed, about 10 MB per minute. FLAC is lossless too, but about half the size of WAV.
The audio won't get better than the source
We take the track as it is and save it in the format you choose. If the video has quiet or noisy sound, it stays that way. Choosing 320 kbps won't improve a phone recording, it only makes the file bigger. For speech, 128 kbps is enough.
Audio to audio works too
The tool accepts MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG and FLAC as well as video. You can turn a voice recorder's WAV into an MP3, or an iPhone M4A into an MP3 for an older car stereo.

Several videos at once
Add up to 5 videos in one go. Each gets its own audio file with the same name, and you choose the format and quality once for all of them. Download them separately or as a single ZIP: handy for a lecture series or several recordings from one event.
No upload
The audio is extracted right in your browser and the video is never sent anywhere. It's fast even with big files, and personal recordings stay with you.
